Project Buyer

Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam is part of the Damen Shiprepair & Conversion group, which carries out maintenance, repair, conversion and refit work on ships and offshore structures from its sites in Botlek and Schiedam. This full-time Project Buyer role is based in Schiedam and keeps repair and conversion projects supplied with the right materials, parts and services, often at short notice.

The role:

• Turn project and customer requirements into technical purchasing specifications, working with work planners and project management
• Buy materials and subcontract services for repair, maintenance and conversion projects
• Prepare requests for quotation, compare quotes on price, quality and delivery time, and choose the best supplier
• Negotiate prices, contract terms and delivery times with suppliers
• Build and maintain relationships with existing suppliers and look for new ones
• Monitor deliveries, check order confirmations and flag deviations

• Minimum MBO level 4 qualification
• NEVI 1 or comparable purchasing knowledge
• At least 3 years' experience in technical and tactical purchasing, preferably in a maritime or project-driven environment
• Fluent Dutch and English, spoken and written
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills, and good planning and organisation
