Briefer

Sunsail is looking for a part-time Briefer to work at its charter base in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. The role centres on the yachts, the customers and the base, welcoming charter guests and getting them ready to sail.

The role:

• Give clients a welcome brief and the information they need, including a first night basic yacht brief for late arrivals
• Conduct yacht and chart briefings and debriefings, and complete the associated paperwork on time
• Check that each yacht is well presented and quality checked before guests board, and help with boarding on arrival
• Provide customer service, including work at the front desk and answering phone calls and queries
• Anticipate customer complaints and pass them to the supervisor
• Help improve and supervise local safety processes, including risk assessments and health and safety standards
• Support the operations manager and help with other duties around the marina

Working hours vary and include early and evening shifts. Weekends are the busiest days at base and are working days, with days off scheduled mid-week. Shifts are 8am to 5pm, with 7am to 4pm or 9am to 6pm at weekends.

• Good operational knowledge of yachts and systems
• Experience on boats or yachts and confidence around the water
• Experience in a customer-facing position
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to explain things clearly, with a patient approach
• Able to prioritise briefings and workload, and work to tight deadlines under pressure
• Confident working independently in a flexible, fast-paced role, and a strong team player
• Good attention to detail
